The History of White House Apartments

“The White House stands within a classical Victorian crescent designed by renowned architect John Burnett Senior .He also designed the Glasgow Stock
Exchange, The Clydesdale Bank in St Vincent Place & The Western Infirmary. The crescent was designed in 1876, but it was not completed until the turn of the century. He was made a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects of which he was nominated President from 1876-1878. He was the father of J.J.Burnett who was also a distinguished architect.

John Burnett Senior died in 1938 at the age of 88 in Glasgow. The Crescent is known as a “book end crescent” and has a Grade B preservation listing.

The White House was opened in 1970 as a hotel and in 1999 Mr Le Marquand became the new owner of The White House, which became apartments in order to cope with popularity & high demand for short term accommodation and continues to be a very unique concept in Scotland. Mr Le Marquand purchased a further 26 executive apartments in the West End. There are 32 suites to choose from and these include Mezzanine Suites, (split level) to Mews Cottages. Each suite is available for varying periods of rental from one night stays to month long or more durations. Each suite provides home from home comfort with relaxed surroundings for business or leisure pursuits.
